PE Joint Backer Rod is a round, closed-cell polyethylene foam profile primarily used to fill construction and expansion joints before sealant application. It is inserted into the joint to control the sealant depth and acts as a bond breaker between the sealant and the back of the joint. The backer rod is rot-resistant, prevents three-sided adhesion and helps ensure the correct elliptical shape of the elastic sealant joint.
Properties:
- Closed-cell polyethylene foam.
- Density: 22 kg/m³ ± 5 kg/m³.
- Water absorption < 1 vol.% according to ISO 62.
- Fire classification: Euroclass E (EN 13501-1).
- Supplied on a reel.
